Exped Educa27tion is run by Jonathan Crowley-Volpato, a Mountain Leader based in Nottingham.

Jonathan grew up in the Peak District and in his teens joined the 15th Macclesfield Sea Scouts. It was here where his initial interest in the outdoors began, with trips to Lake Bala and many evenings spent sailing on Redesmere.

After moving to Nottingham for university, Jonathan settled in the county and has been a secondary school teacher in main stream education since 2011. He has taught in some of the most deprived areas in the UK and over the years has dealt with some of the most challenging classes schools have had to offer, all the while achieving notable results both academically and pastorally.

Shortly aDofE Licensingfter starting his career in secondary education Jonathan began volunteering for Duke of Edinburgh (DofE). From here he became a DofE Centre Manager and saw numbers partaking in DofE triple. Something needed to be done to keep up with the demand and Jonathan successfully applied for an £8500 Awards for All England bid to purchase much needed equipment for the DofE participants.

Jonathan’s passion for the outdoors has continued to 15get the better of him and whilst in Nottinghamshire he joined Nottinghamshire Search and Rescue Team (a member of ALSAR) for close to 5 years, before moving to Derby Mountain Rescue Team in February 2017.

His time in both teams has given him a great insight into the valuable work both ALSAR and MREW do and from his time in the teams Jonathan has gained a variety of qualifications, with DEFRA Mod 3 Flood Rescue Technician and MREW Advanced First Aider being of particular note.

Jonathan is currently still teaching full time, alongside running Exped Education and has recently began working towards a Rock Climbing Instructor Award. He has a full open DBS and his current qualifications are as follows:
